Meet Zach: The Inspiration Behind Where the Pieces Meet

Every nonprofit has a story—and ours starts with Zachary Meyer.

It was when Zach moved in with his sister Emily that the idea for Where the Pieces Meet began to take shape.

At that time, Zach was struggling to find friendships and opportunities to spend time with people who truly understood him. Like many autistic young adults, he longed for a place where he could share his passions and feel accepted just as he is.

Seeing this need up close, Emily reached out online to see if other families were looking for the same kind of community. What started as a few small meetups quickly grew into monthly socials, larger gatherings, an annual resource fair, and eventually the nonprofit we now call Where the Pieces Meet.

Zach’s story is at the heart of everything we do. His journey is proof that one life can inspire a community, and one spark can light the way for many.
