We are still buzzing from the energy of our August monthly event: Karaoke Night!
It's one of our group's favorite get-togethers, and it’s a brilliant reminder of why we started Where the Pieces Meet.
There’s a common, outdated stereotype that neurodivergent individuals are often seen as "reclusive" or "quiet." If you’ve ever been to one of our karaoke nights, you know exactly how wrong that idea is! Our community loves to shine on stage.
The microphone was a gateway to pure joy and self-expression. We heard an incredible range of talent and courage, with performances spanning from the smooth sounds of Michael Bublé to powerful Gospel songs, Country hits, 90's and early 2000's throwbacks, and even unique takes on popular anime themes and video game songs. The variety was amazing, but the energy was consistent: pure fun and support.
Beyond the incredible vocals, the night was a celebration of connection:
Delicious food and drinks kept the energy high and the audience cheering.
A few brave souls even showed off some moves! We loved seeing a few people get up to dance, proving that when the mood is right, everyone finds their own way to enjoy the music. It was a cute and sweet moment!
Most importantly, adults were finding shared interests and bonding over the courage it takes to grab the mic.

This event wasn't just a party; it was a powerful statement about community, confidence, and breaking down stereotypes. It showed the world that when you create a welcoming, non-judgmental space, the pieces truly do come together—and they sing!

A Look Toward the Future of Where the Pieces Meet
These monthly events are the heart of what we do. They are crucial for fighting social isolation and building genuine friendships. Our ultimate goal is to become an official nonprofit so we can make every single event completely free for our neurodivergent and special needs adults. We are working hard to secure this future for our community!
